Climate Worry: Associations with Functional Impairment, Pro-Environmental Behaviors and Perceived Need for Support – Preprint out now

Our group has recently submitted a new study on the associations of climate worry with every day life impairments, pro-environmental behaviors and perceived need for support. While under review for publication at a scientific journal, you can already now read the article at PsyArXiv, here.

Summary in a nutshell:
This study aimed to investigate the impact of climate worry on functional impairment and pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs) among adults in Sweden. We used the Work and Social Adjustment Scale (WSAS) to measure functional impairment and found that climate worry severity and frequency were significantly associated with PEBs. Climate worry frequency was also linked to functional impairment, with a subset of individuals reporting significant impairment due to climate worry. These individuals expressed a need for support, particularly in managing worry and promoting sustainable behavior change. Overall, the study highlights the importance of addressing functional impairment related to climate worry and developing targeted interventions for individuals experiencing these challenges.
